This weekend there were two people getting baptised at the Gatehouse and twins getting dedicated. It was lovely to see the church full and there was a great buzz. However, probably for many of us, the highlight of the morning was hearing two incredibly powerful and moving testimonies.
In Revelation 12 verse 11 we read about the saints overcoming the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. There is something so powerful about hearing real salvation testimonies and also telling others about how God has saved us and changed us and by confessing Jesus as Lord.
The stories we heard on Sunday were about real situations in their lives, real encounters with Jesus and how they are different now. There were appropriate details, which backed up the authenticity of the testimony, there was emotion which showed how deeply impacting the work of Jesus had been, there was honesty about their lives now which prevents an idealistic view of life (we all have a way to go!) and there was a clear acknowledgement of Jesus, because He is the only One who can save us.
What it highlighted to me is the constant move of the Holy Spirit to give us all boldness to introduce other people to Jesus by giving our testimonies to the people we meet and by sharing the Gospel of Jesus. We want to be hearing many more testimonies of the sort we heard this weekend.
Listen to Jacob’s testimony.
Listen to Lucy’s testimony.
